There's something about embracing a child. It's almost like an instant therapy session that actually works. And I've realized it works even better when the child embraces you back. Maya does that,  when she's scared of something, like cats or large trucks passing by, or just looking at Nibu! In that very moment, the overwhelming feeling of being responsible for a helpless child rushes through me, and a thousand thoughts and questions cloud my mind. Then again, maybe that's what this is all about - a tight reminder, a reality check of sorts. A year and 2 months later, it hasn't gotten any less scary. Suby having a moment with his son Jeremiah.
